Get to know the FEPS

The FEPS is the European progressive political think tank, established as an intellectual crossroad between social democracy and the European project. As a platform for ideas, FEPS works in close collaboration with social democratic organisations, and in particular 50 national foundations and think tanks across Europe, to tackle the challenges that Europe faces today. They are doing a lot of activities both closed seminars and public debates. Besides, they publish also a lot including a magazine called the Progressive Post available in French, English and German. 

The FEPS has a wide range of different projects, we will introduce some of them to you! 

Millennial Dialogue 

One of the FEPS flagship projects for two years now is the Millennial Dialogue: the most comprehensive and far-reaching international survey of millennials ever taken. Indeed, more than 27000 people between 15 and 35 years old already replied. The aim with all the FEPS partners at national level, is to engage and create a better understanding of the priorities and values on millennials. 

Books and publications 

They published books on several topics like the new Digital Economy, entitled “The digital economy and the single market - Employment Prospects and Working Conditions in Europe”. And on ‘the new Social contract: a just transition’. Through three case studies of the coal and steel they outline an integrated and effective policy architecture based on transparent structures of political accountability, which incorporate inclusive visions of regional regeneration and investment. Recently, FEPS and SOLIDAR finished a new publication entitled “From Europe to Local: Migrating Solidarity’ which is a collection of contributions by academics, high level experts and policymakers presenting progressive policy solutions to turn the challenges linked to migration and integration into social and economic opportunities for the European Union and its member states. 

Newly launched 

FEPS also launched after Summer with a Hungarian Think tank, Policy Solutions, the Populism Tracker with who aims at becoming the most comprehensive website investigating the trends of populism in all the countries of the European Union. The website allows readers to track the popularity of all European populist parties on the Populism Map, analyse the trends with the help of FEPS continuously updated Populism Graph, and read the studies, research and analyses. 

If you come to Brussels, come to the Next Social Lunch debate organized very often at FEPS Office, near the European Parliament. Among the issues: “Youth Employment: Delivering on a promise of a better future for the next generation(s)”; “EU TAXATION: HOW COULD IT BE FAIR AND PROGRESSIVE?”; “Changes and challenges in the debate on the European Social Rights Pillar”.
